Short trip schedule:
Day 1: Arrive Tromsø with overnight at hotel
Day 2: Jøkel fjorden with glaciers and over night at Sør Tverrfjord
Day 3: Exploring the Finnmarks coast and overnight near Northcape
Day 4: Heading south along west Finnmark, over night at Komagfjord
Day 5: Alta with visit at the petroglyph`s and then flight back home via Oslo.
Northbound N1
Day 1 : Arrive Tromsø.
Transfer from airport to the RICA Ishavshotel, dramatically perched on the waterfront pier in Tromsø harbour, overlooking the mountains. Tromsø is known as the gateway to the Arctic and it’s an island town, surrounded by the perpetually snow-clad mile-high peaks, that prides itself on being both the site of the world’s northernmost university and its northernmost brewery. During the evening we will invite you for a cocktail, followed by dinner, fine wine and a chance to meet your new shipmates.
Day 2: Jøkelfjorden and glaciers
After breakfast the M/S Sea Prince sails form downtown Tromsø to the magical fjords and glaciated mountains towards the north. On our route we will investigate one of the most spectacular bird cliffs in Norway the island Nord Fugeløya. Have your binoculars ready for Puffins, Auks, Fulmars and other seabirds being hunted by the White tailed sea eagles. During the day we will enter into the Jøkelfjorden, a striking fjord that leads to the spectacular Øksfjord glacier. If condition permit, we will lower the inflatable and make a tour a shore. In the afternoon, we will say farwell to Jøkelfjorden and head for our overnight stay at Sør Tverrfjord. This is also a very beautiful area with mountains and glaciers purring down the valleys. During the evening we will have a briefing on our first day activity and the next to come, before we enjoy our dinner at Sør Tverrfjord.
Day 3: North Cape
Early morning breakfast and we will set our compass for the North Cape. Before approaching our finale destination for this day, we will spend the day cruising along the fjords and mountains investigating the small narrow places of the wilderness arctic Norway. In the afternoon we will arrive the small little fishing village Gjesvær situated on the North Cap island Magerøya. From here we will be transported up to the North Cap plateau buy busses.
At the plateau we will spend time visiting the North Cape hall. Our overnight stay will be at Arran hotel on Magerøya situated in the fishing village Kamøyvær.
Day 4: Wilderness Waterways
Morning breakfast, and a new great day for adventures, along our route. We will cruise south along the west coast of Finnmark exploring the small places. Another breathtaking narrow fjord. We will enter into Gyfjorden and make a hike up towards the Seilands glacier. We`ll continue the day cruising to our last overnight stay at Komagfjord. Re-live the events and wonders of your trip during our festive Farewell Dinner tonight.
Day 5: Alta and the petroglyph`s
After morning breakfast we sail into our finale port of call Alta. Here we will make a visit to the petroglyph`s, a world heritage site. We will transfer you to the airport for your flight home, or departure to another destination.
