Patience is everything!!! Today we would not have seen whales if we were lacking this skill. But I would appreciate if the whales showed up earlier tomorrow!

Sunshine and flat ocean surface – the weather condition was promising! After an exciting start we headed out to the deeper ocean. We started to look for whales on the continental slope, but no luck. The strategy was changed and we entered deeper ocean – and there they were!!!

Flat surface on the ocean – finally! Passing Ryøya we saw a group of Musk oxen and on the way out to Sommarøy a group of Harbour porpoises were spotted. The Sperm whales was not as easy to find today, but finally one appeared…

Today the ocean was calm to begin with, but then the wind increased! Some time before we reached the deep sea the crew up in the captains cabin saw something…it was not a Sperm whale…it was a Minke whale – the first one this summer season!

Some days requires more patience then others…this was a day like that…BUT finally it appeared and at last we saw 1 Sperm whale. The trip still offered a beautiful nature experience, but it just shows that you cannot affect the behaviour of wild animals – and I’m very thankful for that!
