RIB boats
What is RIB?
RIB is an acronym for Rigid Inflatable Boat. To put it simply, RIB is a
rubber boat with at solid hull. Thus, a RIB is considered a hybrid between
a conventional boat and a rubber boat.
The tubes employed for the smaller RIBs are intended for the leisure market,
and are manufactured in PVC. Boats for professional use and larger RIBs are
often made of a more expensive material, for instance
Polyurethane/Neopren/Hypalon.
The hulls are usually made from fibre glass. RIBs are usually sturdier
in use than conventional leisure boats, and may be compared to 4-wheel
drive, all road and off road cars. A RIB has all the advantages of a
rubber boat when compared to a conventional boat. The first RIBs were
constructed in the early 1960s.
We have a fleet of 5 Tornado RIBs in the high arctic waters of northern
Norway. And we can even quickly move these boats wherever you are, bringing
them on trailers!
Arcticvoyager AS uses these RIB boats for our Killer whale operations,
see our ORCANORWAY websites.
We will also have them available for activities during the summer time,
just call and ask for options and where you want us to meet up.
There is no other close up water born adventure that can compete with
RIB boats. With that said Arcticvoyager sets a very high standard on
safety and security.
